Setsail is provided by Everfancy LLC. This policy explains how we handle information when you use Setsail.
Our Privacy Posture
Setsail is designed as a local-first finance app. Your detailed personal finance content, including ledger entries, budgets, goals, category preferences, and chat history, is stored in encrypted user-controlled storage, such as your personal device or backup/cloud storage you control. Everfancy does not treat those user-controlled copies as Everfancy-held server records.
Everfancy designs Setsail to minimize persistent server-side copies of your detailed financial content. We do not intentionally maintain your transactions, budgets, goals, financial memory, or chat history as conventional application databases on our servers. When server processing is needed, Setsail sends the relevant information to our processing services over encrypted transport, processes it for the requested app function, and returns results to the app. Limited operational records may still exist as described in this policy, such as support messages, billing records, diagnostic logs designed to avoid financial content, security records, provider processing records, limited operational backups of those records, and encrypted Plaid token records used for revocation.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, such as account details, support requests, settings, and content you enter into the app. If you connect a financial account, Setsail receives user-authorized information through Plaid, such as account metadata, balances when authorized, transaction history, merchant details, and categorization data.
We may also collect limited technical and operational information needed to operate and secure the service, such as device, app, log, diagnostic, authentication, workspace, subscription, and support information.

How We Use Information
We use information to provide Setsail, connect user-authorized accounts, import and categorize transactions, show account activity, maintain budgets and summaries, operate and secure the service, provide support, and comply with legal obligations.
AI Processing
If you use AI or chat features, Setsail may send prompts, relevant app context, selected financial content, and generated outputs to AI processing providers so they can return the response you requested. We use AI processing to provide app features and support. We do not sell data or use AI processing to make credit decisions, move money, or provide financial advice.
AI inputs and outputs may be processed by service providers under their service terms and our configuration choices. Everfancy limits its own use of AI inputs and outputs to providing, securing, supporting, and troubleshooting the requested feature. You should not enter information into AI features that you do not want processed for the requested feature.
Plaid Data
We do not receive or store your bank login credentials. When you connect a financial account, you authorize Setsail and Plaid to access the categories of account data you approve. Setsail uses Plaid data only for user-authorized account connectivity, transaction import, categorization, account activity display, and user-controlled personal finance organization features inside Setsail.
Plaid access tokens are encrypted. Setsail stores an encrypted processing copy on your device as an opaque blob, and may store a separate encrypted revocation copy server-side only so we can disconnect Plaid access when required, such as after account cancellation or a lapsed subscription. Plaintext Plaid tokens are handled only in memory during the request that needs them.
Users can disconnect linked accounts in Setsail. Disconnecting an account revokes linked-account access and stops new collection from that account. Previously imported data remains in your encrypted user-controlled storage unless you delete it or delete your Setsail data. Everfancy does not sell data. That includes Plaid-sourced data. Everfancy does not use Plaid-sourced data for targeted advertising, lending, credit decisions, brokerage, money movement, or financial advice.
Financial Privacy
Connected-account information can include nonpublic personal financial information. We use and disclose that information only to provide, secure, support, and troubleshoot Setsail; process user-authorized account connections; process payments; comply with law; protect rights and security; or complete another action you request or authorize. We do not sell data, including connected-account information, or share connected-account information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We work with service providers that process information for Setsail, including Plaid, cloud hosting, authentication, payment, diagnostics, support, security, and AI processing providers. To the extent financial privacy laws require additional notices, choices, or safeguards, Everfancy will provide and honor them as applicable.
Sharing
We share information with service providers that help operate Setsail, including providers for hosting, authentication, encrypted processing, AI processing, diagnostics, payments, support, and financial-account connectivity. These providers are allowed to process information only to provide services to us, comply with law, or protect security. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights or security, or in connection with a business transfer.
We do not sell data or personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use sensitive personal information, including connected-account and transaction information, to provide, secure, support, and troubleshoot Setsail and comply with law.
Retention And Deletion
Your detailed financial content is stored in encrypted user-controlled storage until you delete it, delete app data, restore over it, or remove the app or backup where it is kept. We keep limited operational information for as long as needed to provide Setsail, maintain subscriptions and device registrations, support account administration and account deletion, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security.
Users can disconnect linked accounts in Setsail. Users may request deletion by contacting support. We may need to verify deletion requests and may retain limited information when required by law, security, billing, fraud prevention, or dispute-resolution needs.
Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including encrypted user-controlled databases and backups, encrypted transport, encryption for Plaid access tokens, access controls, service separation, and logs designed to avoid user financial content. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
Children
Setsail is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, delete, correct, export, or restrict certain personal information. Where applicable, you may also have rights to opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising; limit certain uses and disclosures of sensitive personal information; appeal a privacy-rights decision; use an authorized agent to submit a request; or avoid discrimination for exercising privacy rights. We do not use sensitive personal information for targeted advertising, sale, sharing, or credit decisions.
To make a privacy request, contact support. We may verify your request, ask for information needed to process it, and respond as required by applicable law. If a right does not apply to your request or jurisdiction, we will explain that where required.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above will change when we make material updates, and we will provide additional notice when required by law.
